Hollywood has a special talent for turning bartenders into kings and then handing them the bill for their coronation. Troy Duffy learned that lesson with the subtlety of a flying director's chair. In the late 1990s, his screenplay for The Boondock Saints caught Harvey Weinstein's attention.

Sending an unknown musician and bartender into a whirlwind of studio deals, celebrity encounters, and promises shiny enough to blind a casting director. Then everything spectacularly unraveled. Deals collapsed, friendships fractured, and cameras captured every painful pratfall. The documentary Overnight turned Duffy's meteoric rise and disastrous downfall into a Hollywood cautionary tale.

So, where can viewers watch it?

Where to watch Overnight in the US and what is it about?

US viewers can stream Overnight for free with advertisements on Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, and Shout! Factory TV. Hoopla also offers free access through participating libraries. The documentary is available through fuboTV and the Shout! Factory Amazon Channel. Rentals and purchases are offered through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home.

Directed by Tony Montana and Mark Brian Smith, the approximately 82-minute documentary chronicles Duffy's extraordinary Hollywood adventure, which began when Miramax purchased his The Boondock Saints screenplay for a reported $300,000. The agreement also envisioned Duffy directing a $15 million production, despite his lack of filmmaking experience.

Talk about Hollywood handing someone the keys to the Batmobile before checking their driver's license. Duffy simultaneously pursued a recording deal for his band, The Brood, while friends documented his sudden transformation into Hollywood's latest promising newcomer.

And for another deliciously chaotic peek behind Hollywood's velvet curtains, Seth Rogen has an entire television studio ready to implode.

The Studio Season 2 promises another helping of Hollywood chaos

If Overnight captures Hollywood's real-life insanity, Apple TV's The Studio turns that madness into a full-blown corporate circus. Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, who dreams of producing cinematic masterpieces while navigating an industry obsessed with commercial survival.

Created by Rogen and Evan Goldberg alongside Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, the comedy features Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, Chase Sui Wonders, and Catherine O'Hara. Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, and other Hollywood personalities also appear, adding considerable star power to the industry's fictional nervous breakdown.

Apple renewed The Studio for a second season in May 2025. Filming took place during 2026, including shoots in Los Angeles and Venice, Italy. Production tracking information listed Season 2 as being in post-production by October, although an official premiere date remains unannounced.
