Imperfect Women was never intended to become a long-running franchise. It was always marketed and structured as a standalone limited series based on a single novel. But after repeatedly topping Apple TV+’s global streaming charts, the series proved too successful to remain a one-season story. Apple eventually ordered a second season, explicitly citing how strongly the characters had resonated with audiences around the world and turning the limited series into an ongoing franchise.

Fans looking to watch Imperfect Women can stream the entire first season online. As an Apple Original series, the psychological thriller is available to watch directly through the Apple TV app with an Apple TV+ subscription. Viewers who already use Prime Video can also access the series by adding the Apple TV+ channel to their existing Prime membership, giving them another way to watch the complete season. Imperfect Women premiered globally on Apple TV+ on March 18, 2026.  

Imperfect Women centers on the decades-long friendship between Eleanor (Kerry Washington), Mary (Elisabeth Moss), and Nancy (Kate Mara). Their close-knit relationship takes a devastating turn when Nancy is found murdered, leaving the other two women to reckon with the possibility that they may not have known their friend as well as they believed. The shifting structure gradually reveals that beneath their seemingly perfect friendship lies a complicated history of trauma, compromises, secrets, and betrayals.

Roughly five months after the first season concluded, Apple TV+ officially renewed Imperfect Women for a second season, bringing major changes to the show’s format, cast, and creative leadership.

Season 2 will shift its focus entirely to Washington’s Eleanor. As for the cast, Elisabeth Moss will not return to the screen as Mary, although she will continue her involvement with the series as an executive producer. Kate Mara is likewise sitting out Season 2 following Nancy’s fate in the first installment. At the creative helm, series creator Annie Weisman is teaming up with Justin Hillian, who will serve as co-creator and co-showrunner.

Because Araminta Hall’s original book was fully adapted in Season 1, the second season will tell a completely original story. The setting will also move from Los Angeles to the affluent Black enclave of Martha’s Vineyard. The plot follows Eleanor as she returns to her hometown, where long-buried secrets and scandals from her past begin to surface beneath the island’s idyllic exterior.

Apple has yet to confirm the episode count or announce when filming will officially begin. Since the renewal was only finalized on October 5, 2026, and the writers are starting from scratch with an original story, fans should not expect Imperfect Women Season 2 before late 2028.
