With the Harry Potter film series set to be pulled from Peacock in the coming month, many are curious as to where they can watch the series they love. Thankfully, there will still be a few places where the fans can continue to watch Harry Potter movies within the United States. The franchise is available to rent or purchase digitally through major platforms.

These include Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and Google TV. Those who have grown tired of constantly trying to switch streaming agreements can find an easier method by purchasing the movies outright. Buying digital copies provides long-term access without worrying about future removals from subscription services.

Many platforms, except Netflix, also offer the complete eight-film collection at a bundled price. For people who love their favorite movies, the physical format can still be an alternative. They can purchase their favorite movie titles in DVDs, Blu-ray, and even 4K Ultra HD from major retailers located throughout the United States, and some of these collections even come with additional content.

However, as disappointing as the removal may be, there is a business reason behind the decision.

Why are the Harry Potter movies leaving Peacock and HBO Max?

Due to the licensing agreements that specify when and where the films will be available at certain times, the Harry Potter films are being removed from Peacock and HBO Max. The streaming license agreements usually takes place between the two companies- NBCUniversal, which is the parent company for Peacock, and the Warner Bros despite owning the franchise and HBO Max. These movies are being removed from these services after the licenses run out until they get new agreements.

The removal is usually done once the windows end, and the films come back up in a different service, depending how the rights changes between platforms. This kind of licensing helps media companies maximize one of the most popular franchises in the history of film. For this reason, Harry Potter fans have learned to switch between Peacock, HBO Max, and other digital services to watch the movies.

The fans looking to watch a Harry Potter marathon might feel let down about the imminent exit, however, this does not mean that the series will be off the air. There will always be a way for viewers to revisit the Wizarding World via digital copies, hard copies, and soon-to-be made streaming agreements. The latest change is simply just another example of how huge franchises keep jumping platforms.
