The summer of 2026 is proving to be a fiesta of horror movies, with Obsession being the frontrunner of the whole movement. The movie has changed the whole perception of the horror genre with its creatively refreshing tactics to create dream and doom in the atmosphere just through unexpected and crazy human reactions. This ingenuity has compelled audiences to fill the theaters week after week, making this a huge box office phenomenon. But amidst this dominant theatrical run, rumors of its exit from the big screens have been taking wind.

But are the rumors claiming Obsession’s theatrical conclusion even true?

The short answer is no, there is no date set for Curry Barker’s horror phenomenon, Obsession, to leave the theater anytime soon. The rumors originate from a now-taken-down Reddit post that claimed the movie is not in the theater schedule anymore. This in no way is the truth, as the demand for the film is still pretty strong and is expected to be in the theaters for a few more weeks.

In fact, the movie was originally scheduled for a digital premium video-on-demand (PVOD) release on June 2, which was exactly 17 days after its May 15 wide theatrical premiere. However, due to the unparalleled box office performance, distributor Focus Features scrapped that digital release and extended its theatrical run to capitalize on the momentum.

According to ComingSoon.Net, the movie may remain in theaters for up to 45 days if interest in it persists. The majority of big movies and well-known releases run for about 45 days before seeing fewer screenings. Therefore, after 45 days, Obsession may also slow down. As a result, Obsession's theatrical run may extend until July, delaying its digital distribution until later in the year.
