After an explosive and suspense-filled Season 3 of Yellowjackets in April 2025, it has finally been revealed that production for Season 4 will begin in February. This was confirmed by Yellowjackets actor Sophie Nélisse, who plays teenage Shauna Shipman, in an interview with Screen Rant.

"I know, we're starting in two weeks. We're very excited. I've already rented my place to Vancouver and so we're about to kick off this final season," she said.

While there is not yet a confirmed release date, the start of production for Season 4 is enough to excite the fans. This will also be the final ride with the soccer team, blending suspense, thrills, and horror altogether. Initially, the show was planned for five seasons, but it was officially confirmed on October 10, 2025, that the series will wrap up all loose threads in its final fourth season.

As for the release, Yellowjackets could be expected to return in late 2026, since Seasons 1 (May 2021), 2 (August 2022), and 3 (May 2024) each had five-to-six months of filming and covered two different timelines. However, nothing has been confirmed about how long production will run for Season 4.

Until then, the Yellowjackets fandom is left to imagine and speculate about what lies ahead and who might return in the final season.

Who is in the cast of season 4 of Yellowjackets?

With the return of Yellowjackets for Season 4, there is plenty of buzz around the cast as well. While some characters were killed off in previous seasons, there are still quite a few familiar faces expected to return for the final ride. Sami Hanratty, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Tawny Cypress, Simone Kessell, and Courtney Eaton are all expected to appear in Season 4.

Juliette Lewis, whose character Natalie was killed off in Season 2, did not return for Season 3, so a Season 4 appearance is unlikely. Steven Krueger, Alexa Barajas, Simone Kessell, and Lauren Ambrose, whose characters also died in earlier seasons, are unlikely to return either. However, flashbacks always leave a chance for these characters to reappear.

So, it is clear that the wilderness is not done with them yet, and honestly, fans are not ready to leave it either. Until Season 4 arrives, viewers can continue to rewatch, speculate, and brace themselves for one last brutal ride.
