While Gina Carano’s return to the ring after her 17-second bout remains uncertain, she could appear in Star Wars once again. The actress recently revealed that she has already spoken with the director and producer of The Mandalorian, and there is a possibility she could reprise her previous role. She shared the exciting update just weeks ahead of her highly anticipated bout against Ronda Rousey.
While her possible return to Star Wars is certainly fascinating, questions remain about whether Disney would hire her again and whether there is any potential project in development.

Gina Carano spoke about Star Wars during a conversation with Ariel Helwani in an interview. The actress revealed that she had discussions with new Lucasfilm co-CEO Dave Filoni and The Mandalorian & Grogu director Jon Favreau. And as she shared, they are open to bringing her back to the franchise.
“I’ve already had a conversation with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. We got onto a Zoom call. It was really nice,” she said.
She further added, “Dave is taking over as CEO of Star Wars. We didn’t miss a beat. Jon Favreau got on Zoom and was really funny. He was like so; where did we leave off?”
Carano faced a lot of backlash after Disney fired her from The Mandalorian. While that later led to a lawsuit, it was eventually settled, and she requested to be hired back for her previous role. Now, the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, has already completed filming without her involvement.
Moreover, there are no plans for Season 5. With The Book of Boba Fett unlikely to return and Ahsoka already filming, there also appears to be no confirmed or rumored Star Wars project where her character would fit. So, whether she could return to her role remains to be seen.
But as of now, her fans might want to see her again inside the ring after the recent iconic bout against Ronda Rousey.
Gina Carano’s disappointing yet iconic bout against Ronda Rousey
Back in 2024, Gina Carano accepted Ronda Rousey’s offer to fight her. However, the highly anticipated bout ended quickly in just 17 seconds, with Carano losing to Rousey’s signature armbar submission. Following the bout, the actress admitted that her only regret was not getting more time to fight in the ring.
