Concept artist Victor J. Martinez shared early visual development art for Sony's scrapped Sinister Six project, originally meant to expand Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man universe. Drew Goddard was attached to write and direct the feature as a villain-centric spin-off. Teasers for the lineup were famously set up via easter eggs in the credits and final moments of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The artwork shared by Victor J. Martinez on his Instagram depicts a dramatic action sequence where Spider-Man free-falls over a tropical island amid massive volcanic explosions and heavy missile fire. He captioned it, pointing out the six villains.

“SPIDER-MAN- sharing with you some concept art I did for an unmade/untitled Spider-Man film from years ago. This would’ve been a fun one with lots of villains… 6 to be exact!… iykyk,” he captioned the art posted. Even if the caption says an unnamed project, the figure 6 clearly means the scrapped Sinister Six movie.

Drew Goddard recently mentioned the Sinister Six project while promoting his newest film, Project Hail Mary, recalling the exact moment studio operations halted. The filmmaker, while talking to Variety, candidly reflected on how sudden real-world corporate events derailed his ambitious screenplay.

"I had a big Spider-Man movie about the Sinister Six go down because of the Sony hack," he said. He showed regret about Sony accepting the project.

“I suppose it was better than if they (Sony) hadn't liked the script,” he added. The art shared showed an acrobatic mid-air pose of Spider-Man framed, creating a breathtaking visual work of art.
