Prime Video's Fallout is reportedly bringing the Order of the Quill to life for the first time on screen. Three seasons in, the show has built its reputation on power armor and desert survival, leaving the Brotherhood of Steel's quieter divisions largely unexplored. That balance now seems ready to shift. The wasteland has always hidden more than bullets and scrap metal, and this update suggests the franchise is finally ready to turn a page toward its scholarly side.
While the Brotherhood of Steel has always guarded technology with an iron fist, one of its lesser-known orders may be guarding something entirely different.

New set images reportedly place the Order of the Quill inside Fallout season 3, marking its first confirmed appearance in the series. Photos reportedly taken at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles show a symbol viewers have linked to the faction. Within the games, the Order of the Quill handles archives and recovered pre-collapse writings rather than weapons or armor. If accurate, the show finally acknowledges a division built around knowledge instead of combat.
In the games, the Order of the Quill works alongside the Order of the Sword and the Order of the Shield, each covering a distinct piece of Brotherhood operations. Scribe Elizabeth Jameson oversees the archives in earlier entries, tasked with recovering pre-collapse literature and preserving Brotherhood history. Season 3 also expands its cast, with Aaron Paul joining Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and the rest of the returning ensemble. No premiere date exists yet, though estimates point toward a mid to late 2027 arrival.
While the archives may finally open their doors, the road to season 3 itself remains far less certain.
Everything known so far about Fallout season 3
Fallout season 3 remains exclusive to Prime Video, with no indication of a move to another platform. The production received an official green light in May 2025, and cameras reportedly returned in May 2026, with Santa Clarita, California serving as the primary base. Los Angeles has also hosted portions of the shoot, based on listings from industry production trackers. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan has said the team wants to keep pace so the scope of the story does not shrink between seasons.

The narrative is expected to push past New Vegas and further into the fractured politics between the Brotherhood of Steel and the wasteland's remaining survivors. Lucy, Maximus, and Cooper Howard are likely to anchor the story again, alongside a returning ensemble that includes Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Frances Turner. Whatever direction the plot takes, the Order of the Quill now stands as one of season 3's most intriguing additions.
