Back in 2024, DC announced a new project from its new universe - helmed by James Gunn - but not a live-action one. They revealed that they are working on an animated film called the Dynamic Duo. However, it would not be related to Batman and Robin, as the name Dynamic Duo suggests. Since its announcement, very few updates have emerged about the project, which is making DC fans curious about the upcoming animated feature.

Based on whatever the makers have dropped so far about the film, here is everything to know about Dynamic Duo.

As already mentioned, DC’s animated film, Dynamic Duo, will not be focusing on Batman and Robin. Instead, it will follow the dynamics of two different Robins. With The Brave and the Bold already set to explore the father-son relationship between Damian and Bruce Wayne, the Dynamic Duo offers further perspective into the Batfamily.

The connection between a young Dick Grayson and Jason Todd - the two Robins of the DC verse - as they consider their future plans, will be the main subject of Dynamic Duo. Given that Jason Todd is headed toward becoming the Red Hood and Dick Grayson is destined to become Nightwing, there will probably be a complicated and dark conflict between the two characters in the movie. Both characters embraced and examined darkness from different angles, despite the fact that they were both significant to Batman in comparable ways.

In 2025, audiences saw unique footage of the upcoming film at Warner Bros.' CinemaCon presentation. The scene showed that puppetry animation alone was used in its creation. The scenes looked fantastic because of the exquisite cinematography and breathtaking scenes. Dynamic Duo animation studio Swaybox Studios later posted the video of the DC movie online, too.

Some more details about DC’s Dynamic Duo

The official release date of Dynamic Duo is June 30, 2028, so fans will have to wait a little while longer. The animated movie is still a few years away, so it will be interesting to see exactly what timeline it will fit into and whether Jason Todd or Dick Grayson may appear in another project before their standalone movie. Although it has nothing to do with Matt Reeves' The Batman Universe, the movie is likewise scheduled to be produced by the director's 6th & Idaho.

Who will provide the voices for the key characters is still unknown. Batman or Bruce Wayne could make an appearance. Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's trusted butler and confidante, might also appear in the movie as a mentor. Given her romantic past with Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) may make an appearance. In any case, the prospect of seeing a Dynamic Duo movie in a new stop-motion animation packaging on the big screen is really thrilling.
