Kelly Ripa has been one of the most recognizable faces on daytime television for years thanks to her co-hosting duties on Live with Kelly and Mark and her candid stories about her personal life. She has been very open about her various health fights over the years and has given fans a candid look at the injuries and medical procedures she has endured. Most recently, a renewed interest in her well-being has prompted questions about the painful surgery she underwent and how she has been recovering since. 

Now, Ripa's sudden absence from the daytime talk show left many viewers wondering what happened and why she is temporarily stepping away from the program. 

Kelly Ripa is taking a one-week break from Live with Kelly and Mark after undergoing a painful gum graft surgery. At the start of the July 27 episode, her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, explained her absence, revealing that she is recovering from the dental procedure and is under strict doctor's orders not to speak while she heals. Welcoming guest co-host Kevin Jonas, Consuelos shared the same.  

Ripa went through with the surgery for her receding gums, which her dentist allegedly suggested she undergo five years back. Consuelos said that despite Ripa’s reputation of having high pain tolerance and not opting for Novocain when visiting the dentist, this recovery process has been excruciatingly painful for her. In addition, she was advised to only consume soft foods, avoid using straws, and stop pulling her lip to see how the area looks.

While Consuelos mentioned that Ripa has made a good recovery from the procedure done to her gums, she will be unavailable on Live with Kelly and Mark for some time. Consuelos further revealed that he has been aiding her to adhere to the guidelines given by her dentist. According to Consuelos, she is supposed to return to Live with Kelly and Mark once she recovers.

While Ripa focuses on her recovery, the daytime talk show has already lined up several celebrity guest co-hosts to fill in alongside Mark Consuelos. 

As Kelly Ripa, whose net worth is $22 million, continues recovering from her gum graft surgery, Live with Kelly and Mark has temporarily adjusted its guest-host lineup to keep the show on track. Kevin Jonas is co-hosting alongside Mark Consuelos on July 27 and 28, while Mila Kunis, Pamela Adlon, and Scott Foley are set to appear later in the week. The rotating lineup ensures the daytime talk show continues uninterrupted until Ripa has fully recovered and is cleared to return.
