A revealing moment from a high-level visit is drawing attention, as Donald Trump reportedly shared a candid remark about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The comment was made during discussions about the King and Queen’s state visit. It has now added new interest to the ongoing conversations surrounding the Sussexes' public image and global perception.

Donald Trump has reportedly been criticized after a royal biographer revealed his candid comments about Meghan Markle in a private meeting at the White House. Author Robert Hardman, of Elizabeth II: In Private, In Public, was invited to the Oval Office to mark the release of his latest book. He also interviewed Trump about the book and asked him what he thought of the publication and the royals.

He further asked Trump for his views on the key members of the Royal Family, as King Charles and Queen Camilla recently visited the US. 

“He's very happy with the way the visit's gone, reiterated obviously how fond he is of the King. He also expressed great admiration for the Prince of Wales, and had very warm words… And possibly less flattering about the Sussexes. I'll leave it at that for now," said Hardman on the Palace Confidential podcast. 

“Too many things, I guess. That wife of his. Boy, what she’s done to that guy?,” Trump allegedly told Hardman. The POTUS also appeared to draw a parallel between Markle and the Princess of Wales, praising the latter. Markle, who once spoke about reportedly being the most trolled person in the entire world for 10 years, hasn't said anything yet.

The context surrounding these remarks makes them even more significant. 

While the comments were not an official statement, it has added to the already risky atmosphere surrounding high-profile political and royal figures. The comments came amid the tension between Donald Trump and Prince Harry, after the royal’s recent speech at the Kyiv Security Forum. Prince Harry said in his speech that the United States needs to show more leadership on global security and honor its international treaty obligations.

Amidst all these, King Charles III wrapped up a trip to the United States. In April 2026, King Charles III and Queen Camilla concluded the historic four-day state visit to the USA aimed at strengthening ties. It also included a cordial welcome at the White House by President Trump and the first lady, a speech by King Charles III, and a State Dinner at the White House. 

The alleged comments from the President, amid all these developments, have attracted a lot of attention for their tone and timing, despite not being made as an official statement. They point to the fact that so many high-profile figures continue to dominate the public discussion, keeping their personal and professional decisions front and center.
