In a popular weekly segment, Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist for TODAY, Matthew McConaughey talked about many things, including working with his family in The Lost Bus, the possibility of his son following in his footsteps in acting, and much more. An intriguing question related to his political ambitions too came later in the interview.

Willie Geist asked him about any other political role that he deems fit for a future political career, since he already said no to running for governor on account of his family.

McConaughey replied, “Right now, I think this is the best thing, but I'm open to where my voice and understanding can be most useful, where and what I can learn.”

He further said, “Maybe, you know, leadership down the road in another category, maybe in the political category,” confirming that there is a possibility that the actor sees himself in the political domain but is just not sure in what capacity.

“I think we've got a call to action in front of us. I know we can do it. We just got to not concede to go, it's just the way it is and not let ourselves off the hook either,” McConaughey added. According to him, there is a time in everyone’s life when the duty to serve calls upon them, and it is important to remember that everyone is capable of answering that call. They just have to believe in themselves and be responsible.
