Since August 8, the Game of Thrones prequel play The Mad King has been performing at the RSC's Royal Shakespeare Theater in Stratford-upon-Avon, and it will end on September 5. The drama delves into the events surrounding "Robert's Rebellion," a pivotal moment in the broader Game of Thrones timeline that has never been portrayed in the books or on screen.

The UK stage adaptation of George R. R. Martin's popular novels and series, Game of Thrones: The Mad King, is receiving reviews from critics. The ambitious production has garnered a lot of attention. According to the producers themselves, more than half of the tickets were purchased by younger audiences, demonstrating the outstanding response from the crowd.

According to the official logline, The Mad King is a stage prequel that takes place in Harrenhal as a protracted winter starts to end. On the eve of a jousting contest, lovers gather for an opulent feast, and revelers make predictions about who will compete. However, in the shadows, dissidents from his closest circle nervously pursue a treacherous scheme amid mounting dismay at the ruthless acts of the realm's vicious Mad King. A risky power struggle will put the sacred line of succession, family ties, and old predictions to the test.

Since the reviews for the play are extremely positive and the word of mouth is strong, the makers have decided to bring the Westerosi drama to the London stage. 

The prequel play Game of Thrones: The Mad King will debut in London in 2027, according to George R. R. Martin and The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Duncan Macmillan wrote the large-scale performance, which takes place prior to the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series that was ultimately turned into the television series Game of Thrones. The RSC and Martin announced the shift in capital through an announcement video alongside a press release.

“I had an absolutely splendid time in Stratford upon Avon for the premiere, and am thrilled the production will be moving to London to share the experience with a wider audience. It promises to be an exhilarating journey,” said Martin. 

The Mad King, which was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and HBO, debuted to standing ovations at the Royal Shakespeare Theater in Stratford in July after technical issues forced the cancelation of the first week of previews. It was nearly completely sold out over its six-week run, which finishes on Friday.
