Six years after its farewell, Modern Family still resembles a crowded Thanksgiving table: somebody is shouting, somebody is scheming, and Phil Dunphy probably has a magic trick ready. ABC's mockumentary wrapped in 2020 after 11 seasons and 250 episodes, leaving the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan scattered across television history. F
ans have hoped for another inevitably chaotic family gathering. Now Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played the gloriously high-strung Mitchell Pritchett, has offered a tantalizing update. Apparently, the cast is developing a familiar itch.
Another round of familial pandemonium, preferably with cameras rolling.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson opens up about a Modern Family reunion
On the latest episode of Dinner's On Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson with Reha Horn as the guest, Jesse Tyler Ferguson opened up about the possibility of a Modern Family reunion.
"That being said, it has now been six years, and we are all like, 'We would love to get back together and do it again,'" Ferguson said.

NEW YORK, NY - NOVEMBER 10: Jesse Tyler Ferguson at the Disney+ Original premiere of ˜A Very Jonas Christmas Movie on November 10, 2025 at New York City Center in New York City.
Ferguson reflected on what a luxury it was to know a character so deeply after 11 seasons and 250 episodes, and to work with a cast and crew he knew so well. While he acknowledged that everyone was excited to move on and pursue other projects when the show ended, the passage of time has clearly softened that urge to branch out.
When Rhea Horn floated the idea of a reunion, Ferguson was enthusiastic. He also recalled how the writers were always open to exploring his character acting out of character, citing episodes where Mitchell accidentally got stoned or when he and Eric Stonestreet's Cameron took sleeping pills before a long flight.
And while the old sitcom family dreams of another gathering, two of its creative architects are building an entirely new comedy experiment.
Modern Family creators prepare a frozen-in-time comedy called Mammoth
Christopher Lloyd and Danny Zuker are bringing Mammoth to Fox for the 2027–28 television season, proving that Hollywood's latest sitcom pitch can involve a freezer without ever visiting a supermarket. Adapted from Welsh comedian Mike Bubbins' BBC series, the American version follows Tony Mammoth, a swaggering high-school gym teacher buried beneath a ski avalanche in 1983.

Four decades later, he thaws out and walks straight into modern life, equipped with a Burt Reynolds mustache, a treasured Trans Am, and approximately zero interest in updating his worldview. Fox calls him confident and hopelessly outdated. Tony returns to teaching, only to discover that the rules have moved on without him.
Lloyd and Zuker will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunners, with Bubbins also executive producing. Fox has yet to announce the cast or a specific premiere date.
Can Mammoth deliver another comedy obsession, and would you welcome Mitchell and company back for a Modern Family reunion? Let us know in the comments.
