Sylvester Stallone wore a borrowed gangster suit from the film Capone to his first wedding in 1974. Hollywood weddings usually come with designer gowns, florists, and guest lists longer than a movie credit roll. The ceremony took place in December, and the headcount fit comfortably in a single sentence. The story proves that even a future legend once had to improvise the most important day of his young life.
While most grooms fuss over rings, Stallone faced a tougher problem, and it had nothing to do with cold feet.

Sylvester Stallone could not afford wedding clothes for his 1974 marriage to Sasha Czack, so he turned to an unlikely source. While filming Capone, he borrowed a 1920s gangster suit from the movie's wardrobe department because buying one was out of the question.
“All of our money went to rent, groceries and repairs on our car. We were barely surviving," he wrote in his memoir, The Steps, recalling the financial struggles he and Czack faced before their 1974 wedding.
He added, “I borrowed my double-breasted gangster suit from the Capone wardrobe department, spats, shoes and all.”

The Steps also cover the rest of the day. Czack sewed her dress out of an old linen curtain from their rental house. With no church to call their own, the couple hired Reverend Dingleman of the Association of All Religions because the name was too funny to skip. Andrea Eastman lent her house, manager Jane Oliver and her husband served as witnesses, and the vows happened in rocking chairs.
While a curtain became a wedding dress, Stallone later turned his own struggles into films worth watching on repeat.
Sylvester Stallone movies that deserve a spot on your watchlist
Before the biopic I Play Rocky arrives, Sylvester Stallone has a watchlist worth finishing, starting with Rocky in 1976. The boxing drama follows Philadelphia fighter Rocky Balboa, who only wants to go the distance, and it mirrors Stallone’s real refusal to sell the script unless he starred. First B**** arrived in 1982 and shows John Rambo as a deeply broken veteran pushed past his limits by small town police officers.

Cliffhanger in 1993 sends Gabe Walker up the Italian Dolomites for stunts done without CGI, while Demolition Man the same year drops John Spartan into 2032 for a campy sci-fi laugh. Cop Land in 1997 then trades muscle for a soft-spoken sheriff named Freddy Heflin. Each role proves Stallone could play far more than a tough guy. Not bad for a groom who once dressed straight from the Capone closet.
