Lili Reinhart appeared on Capital Buzz while promoting The Love Hypothesis, where she was asked to rank all seven seasons of Riverdale.
"I do think quite literally we may have lost the plot as time went on," she stated, acknowledging the show's descent into supernatural storylines that departed dramatically from its grounded teen drama origins.

Reinhart revealed she ranks the seasons according to their chronological release order from one through seven, implying earlier seasons surpassed later installments in quality and coherence. This ranking suggests Season 1 represents her preferred era of the show, when Riverdale focused on murder investigations and high school relationships rather than cults, superpowers, and time travel.
"Not that to say I didn't have fun doing every single one," Reinhart added while speaking to Capital Buzz added, clarifying that her critique targeted the writing rather than her time on set or relationships with cast members. She portrayed Betty Cooper throughout all seven seasons from 2017 to 2023, evolving from an investigative journalism student into a character who battled serial killers, joined the FBI, and navigated increasingly convoluted plot twists.
