The Walking Dead boss has once again ignited the beacon of hope for a reunion, bringing Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and more together. A gritty survival thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies makes for a high-concept idea for a movie, even more so for television. When The Walking Dead first aired on television, it became a massive hit by using the zombie genre to explore deep human morality, intense character growth, and high-stakes survival.

Many characters from the show, such as Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon, became instant household names and are still very much celebrated even after the original series ended.

The fans of the show would want nothing more than to be able to see these iconic characters together once more on the screen, and by the looks of it, The Walking Dead boss might have some plans to make that happen.

The Walking Dead boss is keeping the hope alive with Rick and Daryl

While speaking to The Direct at MultiCon 2026, The Walking Dead's Chief Content Officer (CCO) Scott M. Gimple detailed the future of the franchise and limiting the number of projects coming out of the universe to focus more on quality. However, amidst all this, the thing that intrigued everyone the most is what Gimple has to say about a possible The Walking Dead reunion of characters like Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).

“Well I still dream of it, and I will say we have all sorts of plans in play,” Gimple teased.

He, however, curbed everyone’s enthusiasm by saying that it is not the right time for a crossover, as they are still pretty much somewhere in the middle of The Walking Dead saga. He emphasized in the chat with The Direct that the end is definitely very far off for the television show.

With five new programs debuting in the 2020s and up to three seasons of The Walking Dead spin-offs produced in a single year, the AMC franchise has been expanding at an accelerated rate in recent years. With The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon coming to an end, it appears that the show will be reducing its output, and Dead City will probably follow suit, concentrating on just one or two shows.

Over the years The Walking Dead universe has churned out several amazing spin-offs from the iconic horror world.

Too many irons in the fire for The Walking Dead

Throughout most of its 11-season run, The Walking Dead only had one spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead; however, AMC followed the series with a number of projects that have taken the adored cast all over the world. Daryl and Carol's European adventures in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Maggie and Negan's New York epic in Dead City, and the latest installment of Rick and Michonne's tale in a limited series, The Ones Who Live, all continued the post-apocalyptic hit universe.

It is still not confirmed that the six-episode anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead will return for season 2. Due to the franchise's recent acceleration, 14 TV seasons have already been released in the 2020s, which is twice as many as the seven that were released in the previous six years. Anyhow, the hopeful comments from The Walking Dead boss, Scott Gimple, give ample hope for the much-awaited reunion.
