Since time immemorial, the adrenaline and blood rush associated with action have driven entertainment and fueled imagination. Countless directors and actors have left their mark on this indelible genre; from the spy-action likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, and Daniel Craig to the superhero side of the same with big names such as Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman. Now, there lie those handfuls who have sailed on both the ships and made it home. Among them, returning with a bang in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle, is Henry Cavill.

The X-Men: First Class and Kingsman franchise director recently opened up on working with the British actor and the future of his previous ventures.

Henry Cavill announced his upcoming stint in Argylle with flair and a hairstyle that has become quite a talking point. As the 40-year-old is all set to grace the big screens alongside Dua Lipa, the movie’s director spoke of the star’s early roots. Putting him as a “poor guy” whose talent was being wasted on lower roles in many franchises, Matthew Vaughn cherished the time when the actor got cast as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel. In talks with Josh Horowitz, the English director believed that Cavill was now “actually blossoming.”

Before becoming a household name and fan-favorite Superman, the actor appeared in numerous shows and movies from the age of 17. Furthermore, speaking of working with Cavill on Argylle, Vaughn added that “he’s so good in the film and he’s lovely to work with”. When the host inquired if he shared the same traits as Cavill, such as being an avid gamer and building gaming rigs together, the Kick-Ass director agreed before joking off “We don’t okay all right no no he’s got different taste.”

The ethos of superhero acting is not unknown to Matthew Vaughn. Having helmed both big-ticket action and superhero franchises, he is quite an expert when it comes to it. In light of James Gunn rebooting the entire star cast sparing a handful, the director lent his vote for the next Lex Luthor to Taron Egerton. Despite recent fan castings calling him a fit to replace Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Vaughn believes otherwise.

Egerton boasts of a perfect resume when it comes to acting. The 33-year-old has starred in the entire Kingsman trilogy. Furthermore, he has also demonstrated his acting chops with his stints in Rocketman and most recently in Tetris. Coincidentally, many of his movies have a connection with Vaughn. Thus, if the actor-director pair turns up at James Gunn’s quarters, then it should not be much of a surprise.
