On Instagram, they wrote: “This summer, we have received our sweet baby girl through adoption," expressing their excitement for the new chapter of parenting. With the announcement, it was clear that Brown was not pregnant, rather, she has been vocal about her choice of adoption while vowing that she would always keep her child's identity a secret from the public. 

Brown told British Vogue that it is crucial for her to protect her daughter's story, hence the world will not know the little one's name "until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself.” She also gushed about the little joys in her life that "are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love." In the same interview, she referred to motherhood as a beautiful journey of learning and growth, as, along with Jake Bongiovi, she has been sharing parenting responsibilities equally, while juggling her career as well as headlines surrounding the Stranger Things cast dynamics.

Variety's reports and other sources revealed Millie Bobby Brown had lodged a formal complaint against her co-star, and on-screen dad in Stranger Things, David Harbour. The complaint purportedly dealt with bullying or harassment during the pre-filming period of Season 5. However, an internal investigation carried out by Netflix, which took possibly months to complete, eventually concluded that the issue was resolved internally.

Moreover, Netflix might have smartly arranged the release of Season 5 and its red-carpet campaign as damage control to have the public perceive the two as being unified, per the outlet.
