Coyote vs. Acme carries a story almost as chaotic as anything Wile E. Coyote lived through in the desert, chasing failure after failure without ever losing momentum. Warner Bros. finished the film years ago, then quietly treated it like unwanted inventory rather than letting audiences near it. Ketchup Entertainment eventually rescued the project, and after years of uncertainty, the comedy finally reached theaters carrying a reputation nobody inside the original studio predicted.
While Warner Bros. treated the movie like forgotten cargo, critics on the other side of release day were quietly building toward a verdict nobody expected.

Coyote vs. Acme has become the best-reviewed Looney Tunes release audiences have seen in decades. A viral claim suggested the film opened with an impossible 101% on Rotten Tomatoes, but no such number exists on the platform. The comedy briefly touched a perfect 100% before settling at 95%, still the strongest mark any recent entry in the franchise has managed. IGN handed the film a striking 9 out of 10, praising its humor as a clever response to years of criticism aimed at the franchise.

Only two reviews have pushed back against the otherwise glowing Rotten Tomatoes tally, with Variety calling the film tame and Screen International criticizing its screenplay. Warner Bros. had shelved the finished project as part of a tax write-off strategy, despite the movie testing extremely well with audiences beforehand. Ketchup Entertainment later acquired distribution rights and set the theatrical release for August 28, giving the 70 million dollar production a second chance. The concept traces back to Ian Frazier's magazine piece imagining Wile E. Coyote suing Acme in court.
While critics celebrated the surprising reception, one star had already made peace with the film never reaching audiences at all.
John Cena made peace with Coyote vs. Acme never releasing
John Cena had fully accepted that Coyote vs. Acme might never reach audiences. The actor explained to Entertainment Weekly that his job ends once filming wraps, since decisions about a completed project belong to the studio rather than the cast. He said his focus stayed on the parts within his own control, including the collaborators and experience gained while making the film. That mindset carried Cena through years of uncertainty surrounding the movie's fate.

Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the finished project in 2023 as a tax write-off, alongside titles like Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt. Heavy backlash pushed the studio to search for a buyer, and Ketchup Entertainment eventually secured the distribution rights. Cena's relief matched the mood of audiences once the August 28 release date was confirmed. Coyote vs. Acme now stands as Warner Bros.' highest-rated Looney Tunes film, proving that patience finally paid off.
