Dakota Johnson has revealed that Vogue Fridays is a ritual she picked up while filming a movie in Italy. The actress dropped by a podcast taping in New York with self-cut bangs and opinions on everything from flip-flops to Chanel trousers. Her thriller Verity is on its way to cinemas, and her calendar is packed with press stops. Somewhere between all of that, her weekends quietly received an upgrade.

While Hollywood schedules premieres, Johnson has scheduled something far more important for Fridays, and the origin story involves an Italian film set and one very chic habit.

Dakota Johnson now hosts Vogue Fridays with her friends, where everyone smokes one Vogue cigarette and enjoys a cocktail. The idea traveled home from Italy, where the crew treated a Friday cigarette as a weekly ceremony.

"So now my friends and I have this thing called Vogue Fridays, and everyone smokes one Vogue cigarette and has a cocktail," Johnson told Vogue in an interview.

She then added that the Italian version of the habit was "the chicest thing in the world."

The chat took place on Vogue's The Run-Through podcast, hosted by Chloe Malle. Johnson explained that she quit smoking at 26 and now dislikes how the smell clings to her hair and bed. The one-cigarette limit keeps the ritual closer to a toast than a habit. That Italian set belonged to Three Incestuous Sisters, which wrapped in Rome with Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley.

While Johnson keeps her Fridays classy, her creative weekdays involve a pop superstar and a very mysterious music video.

Speaking at the Verity premiere, she called it the most fun thing on the planet, crediting years of mutual creative respect. On the Fangirl Nation podcast, she added that she would normally advise against working with friends, yet this pairing proved the exception. Friendship and film sets do not always mix, but this one apparently did.

Swift directed the video herself, with Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki behind the camera. A 13-second teaser released on September 24 showed Swift and Johnson in striking spots, including a bathroom sink, open water, and what appears to be a gravesite. The full video premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, alongside the release of 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.' Whatever the plot may be, the mood on set was clearly excellent, and it is easy to imagine the wrap celebration ending with one Vogue cigarette and a well-earned cocktail on a Friday.
