The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a habit of treating endings as revolving doors. A character disappears, a family fractures, and somewhere in the machinery of a sprawling franchise, another story begins to take shape. For Vision, the question has never been simply whether he can return, but what remains of a person when memory survives, and feeling does not.

Wanda Maximoff’s family remains one of Marvel’s richest unfinished threads, stretching from Westview’s grief to a new generation of heroes. The next chapter may yet reach beyond television, with familiar faces, and VisionQuest creator Terry Matalas is more than happy to go along with it.

Matalas has found a corner of Marvel that still has room to grow, and his wish list reaches into the Maximoff family’s unfinished business.

Terry Matalas wants to be the one to keep the Marvel family together

With VisionQuest on Disney+, showrunner Terry Matalas is already looking beyond the series. Speaking to ScreenRant, he said Vision, Ultron, and the Maximoff family had become deeply personal to him, and he would welcome more work with Marvel.

Asked about adapting Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, Matalas said the decision belonged to Marvel, but he would love getting to make it.

"I would love nothing more than to keep playing in the sandbox. Vision and Ultron and the Maximoff family are part of my DNA now. They're part of my beating heart," Matalas expressed.

"I would love nothing more than to do something like that," he said of The Children's Crusade. He wants the wider family involved, potentially including Ultron, while stressing that nothing is in development.

The comic storyline follows Billy Maximoff’s search for Wanda, connecting it to VisionQuest’s family-focused story. Matalas was hired to redevelop VisionQuest after Marvel was impressed by his work on Star Trek: Picard’s third season. Still, his enthusiasm, which he shared with ScreenRant, is not a green light.

'VisionQuest' Episode Release Dates: Full Disney+ Schedule Revealed

As Vision wrestles with the person he has become, the series leaves the Maximoff family’s future—and Matalas’ hopes—open to possibility.

VisionQuest closes one door and opens another

VisionQuest premiered on Disney+ on October 13, 2026, with two episodes. Its eight-episode run concludes November 10, closing a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Paul Bettany has returned as Vision, whose restored memories have not tapped his emotional connection to the life he remembers.

He explores artificial-intelligence personas inside his mind, including Ultron, voiced again by James Spader, while fleeing danger alongside a teenager who may be his reincarnated son.

That mix of identity, memory, and parenthood puts family at the heart of VisionQuest. Terry Matalas may want to carry those threads into Avengers: The Children’s Crusade. For now, the project remains a possibility he would publicly love to pursue, and not a confirmed Marvel production.
