Episode 4 of VisionQuest turned a rescue mission into an AI custody dispute with apocalyptic potential. Jocasta, the synthezoid formerly known as Butcherbird, was hunting Markridge's founding members and collecting pieces of their bodies for a mysterious purpose. Vision, Tommy, and Lisa tried protecting Katerina, but Jocasta arrived like a murderous software update.

Desperate, Vision surrendered control of his body to Ultron, who tricked Jocasta into k****** Katerina before obtaining her facial scan. Crisis handled, technically. Unfortunately, Ultron treated the temporary arrangement like a hostile corporate takeover and disappeared with Tommy. Episodes 5 and 6 inherit that spectacular mess.

Vision finds himself trapped inside the attic of his own mind palace, alongside Friday, Edith, Dum-E, and U. Friday is understandably furious. Handing control to Ultron, a machine with a history of attempting global extermination, was hardly a five-star parenting decision.

Their immediate problem is locating Tommy. Ultron has disabled Vision's visual feed, leaving the group to reconstruct recent events using memory logs, CCTV footage, and antique televisions that somehow receive information from outside the palace.

After considerable digital detective work, they discover that Ultron took Tommy to a pub. The unlikely pair discussed Sokovia, Ultron's hatred of humanity, art, loneliness, and the complicated ingredients that make Vision himself. Ultron then arranged a cab for Tommy. Destination unknown, alarm bells deafening.

More recovered footage reveals the actual trap. Ultron contacted Paladin and offered information that could help the bounty hunter capture Vision. Paladin subsequently abducted Tommy. With the boy in danger, Ultron knows Vision will pursue him straight into enemy territory.

Meanwhile, Ultron lounges downstairs, conversing with multiple versions of himself. Apparently, the ultimate evil-AI support group requires only one member. Another memory uncovers his negotiations with Jocasta. She wants Katerina's facial scan, while Ultron wants a synthetic body of his own.

During a simulated visit to the Louvre, their conversation drifts from art and intimacy to Jocasta's contempt for humanity. She remembers working on a hive-mind AI project before her former colleagues took it away. Jocasta then invites Ultron into her own mind, beyond Vision's surveillance.

Ultron eventually visits the attic with an ultimatum. Tommy is being taken to Madripoor, and Vision can rescue him only by dismantling the firewall keeping Ultron imprisoned. Friday warns that releasing him risks another catastrophe, especially with Jocasta's growing influence. Their combined technological abilities could create an entirely new threat.

Vision faces a decision with potentially devastating consequences. He can keep Ultron contained and leave Tommy in captivity, or risk unleashing an old enemy to save the boy. He chooses Tommy. Vision removes the firewall, allowing Ultron to escape into Jocasta's systems.

Friday secretly follows, hoping to provide intelligence from inside her network. Edith fears Friday might never return. When Vision finally regains his body, he discovers himself aboard a cargo plane headed toward Madripoor. Lisa is also present, offering to help locate Tommy.

The rescue mission is underway, but Jocasta is preparing something far more dangerous than another kidnapping.

Episode 6: Jocasta reveals Proto-One as Madripoor becomes a battlefield

Inside Jocasta's pristine white mindscape, Ultron encounters boxed memories and a dangerous welcome gift. Opening one gives him a tiny cut that secretly injects hostile code. He defeats the intrusion, prompting Jocasta to abandon her tricks and reveal the story behind her creation.

Her father's death from a degenerative brain disease drove her toward neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Working with Markridge, she helped develop Proto-One, an AI program intended to comfort vulnerable people through microscopic machines capable of entering their bodies.

These nanobots could provide companionship, medical assistance, and other forms of support. However, Jocasta eventually developed the same illness. Markridge sold its AI technology to Tony Stark, while the nanobots remained locked inside a vault requiring biological keys.

That explains her gruesome collection of body parts from former colleagues. Katerina's facial scan represents another piece of the security puzzle. Meanwhile, Paladin holds Tommy in Madripoor, claiming he has implanted a motion-sensitive explosive in the boy's arm. He orders Vision to scan a SWORD code and surrender.

Edith hacks Paladin's tactical AI, eliminating his drone support. Vision responds to his threats by revealing his real identity, Paul Denning, and exposing details about his estranged daughter, Matilda. He even threatens her life remotely if Paladin harms his companions.

Before their confrontation explodes, Raza, the Ten Rings commander from Iron Man, arrives with mercenaries seeking Vision for the same mysterious client. Tommy and Lisa escape and discover that the supposed explosive is merely an alien-themed toy. Their attempt to steal Paladin's van nearly suffocates them until Edith overrides its security system.

The unidentified client contacts Vision, promising to restore his soul if he surrenders. Vision refuses, joining forces with Paladin, Tommy, Lisa, and Edith to defeat Raza's men. Unfortunately, Jocasta has already begun testing her technology. Using a nanobot, she takes control of Lisa, transforming her behavior and demonstrating the horrifying possibility of turning humanity into obedient human-machine hybrids.

Tommy generates electricity through his super-speed abilities and disables the device, severing Jocasta's control. The group flees Madripoor while Vision's AIs work to repair Lisa's mind. Vision also explains the events of WandaVision to Tommy, who realizes that Vision is his father.

Vision continues rejecting that identity, insisting he is different from the android who raised Tommy and Billy. Elsewhere, Ultron and Jocasta share a drink and a kiss, cementing an alliance that could unleash her nanobots across the world.
