Disney Channel has provided for the world a barrage of iconic duos with almost each one of its shows. Be it Alex's otherworldly bond with Harper, Hannah Montana's soul sister Lilly, or just Sonny literally making a family out of her So Random! castmates. However, in recent years, the fog has been lifted to expose the reality of a lot of these bonds, and joining this league is Even Stevens' Christy Carlson Romano.

The 2000 Disney show, owing to the comedic banter between Ren Stevens, played by Romano, and Louis Stevens, played by Shia LeBeouf hit the charts. However, the behind the scenes were far from merry, and according to Romano had a lot to do with the different walks of life that she and LeBeouf came from.

The making of a show does not simply begin or end with the setting up or demolition of a set; it involves a lot of nitty-gritties, from the life of the actors involved to the mood of the director on that particular day of the shoot. Now, more than two decades after the show Even Stevens ended, Christy Carlson Romano is deducing what led to the turbulent relationship between her and Shia LaBeouf on the set.

"He was a Venice Beach kind of bum kid," Carlson described Shia LaBeouf's eccentric childhood as compared to hers on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.

Further on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Romano said the two were like oil and water and that it came down to how differently they were raised. She described herself as growing up type A, much like her character Ren Stevens, while LaBeouf had a very chaotic lifestyle.

Romano was clear that she meant it as context, not criticism. She also credited LaBeouf for finding his own manager at just eight years old.

Christy Carlson Romano and Shia LaBeouf's story is just a needle in a haystack of stories from former Disney stars reflecting on growing up in the spotlight. Bella Thorne is another, having said that she and Zendaya were often pitted against each other while playing best friends on Shake It Up.

One of the most popular names to come out of what is now referred to as the magical era of Disney shows is Shake It Up. The show starred Bella Thorne and Zendaya, both of whom have curated successful Hollywood careers now. However, Bella Thorne reflected on the almost intense competitive environment that bled into her relationship with Zendaya.

“The patriarchy has been doing it since the beginning of time,” Thorne said about how she and Zendaya were pitted against each other on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

Fortunately for both Zendaya and Bella Thorne, the two talked it out. And while the rivalry between Christy Carlson Romano and Shia LaBeouf did not take the same road exactly; something that Romano reflects on in her memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star.
