Henry Cavill hanging up his cape as the Last Son of Krypton had transcended the emotions of the DCEU fandom deeply. Following his departure, speculations and fan theories were on the inevitable rise for the upcoming Superman release. Although fans were receding their hopes, they remained diabolical about the newer slate of casting possibilities. Just when the world was grappling with James Gunn’s vision of renewing the Superman narrative, the revelation of one of the characters blew up a storm. 

The Superman cape being entrusted to a different Clark Kent has rebuked many hearts. However, the one assuming the evil force has outdone the expectations. 

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has a new antagonist from The Authority

James Gunn’s vision for Superman: Legacy is largely based on his brainstorming the DCU with the Wildstorm Universe. Having pitched for a traditional Superman, Gunn has incorporated the darker sphere for his approach. As per James Gunn’s Instagram post, the actress to rattle the DCU with her menacing force is none other than María Gabriela De Faría. The Venezuelan actress is supposed to don the character of Angela Spice, better known as The Engineer.

In his post, Gunn wrote, “Welcome to the DCU @thefaria“. María Gabriela De Faría has previously portrayed one of the members of The Authority. The character’s origin is not in the DC comics but within the Wildstorm Universe. Having debuted in The Authority, Angela’s devilish powers are supposed to indulge in a darker destiny of the protagonist to adhere to the murky idea of Gunn’s vision.

Following Henry Cavill not retaining the role of Superman, James Gunn revealed his ideal vision for the cast aligning with Christopher Reeve’s Superman. While that did break many hearts, it was followed by a year full of strike apocalypse. Having put almost all high-impact projects on hiatus, the end had finally claimed some sigh of relief. Although speculations regarding the schedule of release were highly debated, James Gunn recently confirmed it.

The filmmaker took to his Instagram to affirm that Superman: Legacy will be released on July 11th, 2025. While addressing the fandom, he also thanked his “talented crew” for keeping the project right on track. Although one knows what has been amiss, there is still optimism among dedicated fans who eagerly await Gunn’s opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and win them over.
