For years, David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown gave Stranger Things fans one of television’s most memorable father-daughter dynamics. But while Hawkins may be behind them, their on-screen partnership clearly is not. David Harbour is now teasing what could be a very different kind of reunion with Brown one that borrows from the chemistry they built over a decade without attempting to recreate the world of Stranger Things.

However, their next collaboration appears determined to leave the Upside Down behind. Harbour is once again teaming up with Brown for a new Netflix project, but this time, the actors are using the chemistry they developed on Stranger Things as a foundation for something entirely new.

David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown are set to reunite for an upcoming Netflix series that will see them play an FBI agent and his estranged daughter. While the premise may once again put the actors in a father-daughter dynamic, Harbour made it clear that the project is intended to stand firmly on its own. 

“We wanted to use the building blocks of the dynamic between me and her which I think is so special and build something that was really unique and original,” exclusively told E! News at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 6. 

Harbour said, explaining that their working relationship allows them to bring something special to their performances, emphasizing how anywhere he goes, people just know about Hopper and Eleven.

Rather than simply returning to familiar territory, he wants to use the “building blocks” of their dynamic to explore something entirely different. That connection, however, does not mean fans should expect another Stranger Things story. With two scripts already completed, the actor said he is “really, really excited” about what they have created.

And Harbour’s interest in exploring new stories extends beyond his reunion with Brown, particularly when it comes to the ideas he wants to examine through his work.

While discussing DTF St. Louis with Next Best Picture’s Matt Neglia, Harbour delved into the show's themes of loneliness and how they intersect with American family culture. The actor argued that society often presents people with two stark choices: live alone as an outsider or build a home and family that becomes an isolated fortress.

“It’s like, ‘F*** the rest of the world,’ or like,

‘We protect what’s ours’... there’s a very sort of capitalist mindset to this ideology,” Harbour said.

Yet, beneath that individualism, Harbour believes people still crave community, friendship and mutual care. That tension between isolation and connection is also fitting for an actor whose upcoming projects continue to explore complicated relationships.

Their upcoming Netflix series will follow a disgraced FBI agent whose estranged daughter, Rebecca, disappears during a mission. Harbour and Brown will executive produce alongside Brown’s husband, Jake Bongiovi, while Adolescence writer Jack Thorne is penning the script. With their Stranger Things chapter closed, Harbour and Brown appear ready to build something that belongs entirely to them.
