Uma Thurman Promises a “Ballet Bloodbath” in Her New Thriller 'Pretty Lethal'
The enchanting, dreamlike movements and awe-inspiring swirls by ballerinas express the beauty and power of art. But the calluses, cuts, and bruises that ballerinas quietly endure express perseverance. The latter will be much needed for the five ballerinas in Pretty Lethal, Vicky Jewson’s latest thriller, written by former ballerina Kate Freund. And if there is anyone capable of raising the tension in the story, it is Uma Thurman.
The actress, who is part of the star-studded cast of Pretty Lethal, recently hinted at the intensity to expect while speaking about the upcoming thriller.

Part of Uma Thurman’s message was conveyed through the early clips and stills from Pretty Lethal, which shows the pristine ballet tutu stained with deep red blood. That speaks much about the show. However, during Thurman’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress raised the hype by claiming that audiences can expect intense action and bloodshed in the upcoming thriller.
“Okay we can tell you that it is a ballet bloodbath,” she said.
Thurman also had a warning about the plot of the movie.
“It's ballerinas whose lives are threatened, and they have to defend themselves wearing tutus…Don't mess with the ballerina because they know how to suffer,” she added.
She also spoke about director Vicky Jewson, praising the filmmaker’s vision for the project. Jewson is best known for films such as Close, Born of War, and Lady Godiva. Paired with a brilliant work by Kate Freund, the anticipation surrounding the project is understandably high.
Apart from the crew, and Uma Thurman's promise, what makes the film even more exciting, however, is its cast, which features several familiar and fan-favorite names.

And Uma Thurman, who is known for Kill Bill, plays Devora Kasimer, a former dancer running an inn. With such an interesting lineup of young stars and a veteran actor, the film already has plenty of buzz. After its premiere at South by Southwest on March 13, the movie will be available to stream on Prime Video on March 25.
