'Train to Busan' Returns to Big Screen for 10th Anniversary Celebration

The classic horror film Train to Busan is set to board the big screen once again to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Even after a decade, the film has maintained its reputation as one of the finest zombie movies ever made. From its spine-chilling horror and heartbreaking emotional moments to the awe-inspiring performances from the cast, the fan favorite horror has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
And as the zombie horror turns 10 this year, it is returning for a special anniversary celebration.
Train to Busan is ready to depart again

After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival, Train to Busan was released in theaters in July 2016 and quickly became a global phenomenon. Now, in July 2026, the movie has completed 10 years. For the celebrations, the beloved zombie thriller will be brought back to theaters by Well Go USA, giving both longtime and new fans a chance to experience the terror on the big screen once again.
The film's anniversary re-release is set for August 14, 2026. Gong Yoo, Ma Dong-seok, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Su-an, Kim Eui-sung, and Choi Woo-shik starred in the movie. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and written by Park Joo-suk, Train to Busan follows the passengers aboard a high-speed KTX train traveling from Seoul to Busan as they struggle to survive a sudden zombie outbreak that took over their city as well as the train.
Not just the horror, but the emotional storytelling of the movie made it a huge success. It became the first Korean film of the year to surpass 10 million moviegoers. It went on to earn an impressive $98.5 million worldwide against an $8.5 million budget.
Now, there is no better time than this year to be a fan of zombie horror. Another fascinating South Korean Zombie horror from the Train to Busan director made headlines this year.
What is 2026 horror classic Colony
Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, Colony is a 2026 South Korean zombie thriller. The film follows biotechnology professor Kwon Se-jeong, who attends a conference at Dunguri Building when a rapidly mutating virus suddenly spreads throughout the facility. As authorities quarantine the building, the survivors get trapped inside amid the infected humans.

However, they soon realize that the infected share a hive mind that makes them smarter and more dangerous. She teams up with security team member Choi Hyun-seok to find the mastermind behind the outbreak and stop the infection before it spreads. The film stars Jun Ji-hyun, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rock, and Koo Kyo-hwan. Colony is currently enjoying an impressive run in theaters, and is set to release on August 28 in the USA via Well Go USA, the same distributor responsible for Train To Busan's exciting 10th anniversary re-release.
