American Horror Story has spent 15 years inventing new ways to traumatize viewers. Haunted houses, demonic asylums, murderous hotels, witch wars, apocalypse cults, k***** clowns- the franchise has basically turned every possible nightmare into appointment television.

During an American Horror Story: 13 panel at PaleyFest New York, Lange looked back on filming 2013’s Coven and revealed that cast members were expected to handle their own transportation after late-night shoots.

“We had to drive ourselves,” Lange recalled. Lange said the irritation has survived all these years, calling it still a bone of contention.” Then came the iconic shot.

“Too f******* cheap.” said Lange about the production.

Lange said she finished work around four or five in the morning and drove herself home through New Orleans, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Paulson responded by laughing and covering her face, which feels like the universal reaction when a co-star detonates a decade-old grievance onstage.

Transportation for principal actors is a common production amenity, although it remains unclear whether the same arrangement continued during later American Horror Story seasons. Lange still came back. Season 13 marks her first appearance since Apocalypse in 2018, proving that even supernatural grudges occasionally come with contract negotiations.
