Regardless of Peter Parker facing the most difficult phase of his life, one where his existence is solely behind a mask, he seems to have made time to take none other than Lionel Messi for a swing-ride across NYC. Marketing campaigns for movie promotions can go as wild as one could think of. For example, the time when Deadpool created fake Tinder profiles, replaced movie posters in stores, made customised emojis, or when The Blair Witch Project pretended that all of their leads were indeed deceased or had disappeared. There are no limits to what the makers would do to push their films to the audience.
And when it comes to one of the most anticipated releases of the year, it becomes imperative that they do everything in their power to maintain that hype, even if it means a webslinging joyride amidst New York skyscrapers with one of the most inspirational footballers of all time.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s latest teaser did just exactly that, bringing in Lionel Messi for a swing ride with Spidey.

Lionel Messi tests his fear of heights with Spider-Man
Sony Entertainment Pictures just released an interesting teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day featuring the living legend of football, Lionel Messi. In the teaser, Messi just wanders into a coffee shop where Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is casually having a phone conversation while enjoying his coffee.
He is immediately awe-struck when he sees Lionel Messi walking up to the counter and enquiring about something. He quickly makes his way to the footballer while stumbling in the way and asks what the GOAT is doing there. Messi gestures at his phone, which has the Spider-Man tracking app on it, and just says Spider-Man.
Peter, filled with excitement, quickly changes into Spider-Man and asks him whether he is good with heights, and in the very next scene, we see both of them swinging across the New York skyline. It was as clever as it was hilarious, with Messi using just one-word answers, mostly Si, the entire video.
The appearance of Lionel Messi in the Brand New Day teaser begs another question: whether he is in the movie or not.
Will Lionel Messi cameo in the movie as well?
Whether Lionel Messi will feature in the final Spider-Man: Brand New Day film is still up in the air. It is possible that he is a fan of Spider-Man because he performed so excitedly in the recent promotional teaser. The marketing material is also in line with the current FIFA World Cup fever and Messi's incredible performance for Argentina in it.
