It is almost a rule at this point that every Marvel movie comes with a mountain of fan speculation. Every new movie seems to give them something new to talk about. Especially when the movie is part of a franchise as massive as Avengers, it becomes a different ball game. Every interview, social media post, and passing comment can suddenly become a clue. Avengers: Doomsday is no exception, with Hailee Steinfeld now in the rumor mill. 

Steinfeld recently gave a cryptic response when asked about the very rumor linking her to Avengers: Doomsday.

Hailee Steinfeld recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios film Hexed. When the host mentioned the ongoing rumor, the actress decided to keep it ambiguous. She neither denied nor confirm the speculations, something that even left her husband confused, apparently. 

"My husband actually called me the other day and was like, ‘Are you in this?’ And I was like, you know, I actually have no idea".

Fallon also mentioned the chair promo, which did not feature Steinfeld's name. The 29-year-old’s answer made it seem like she was just as much in the dark as her fans.

"Well, I didn't see it either,” added Steinfeld. But just before Fallon finally gave up trying to get an answer out of her, Steinfeld added another cryptic line. 

"Time will tell".

This speculation has grown since MCU released the new ScreenX Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The trailer shows Scott and Cassie Lang inside what appears to be Kate Bishop’s New York apartment.The location has become a talking point among fans, who see it as a possible clue about Steinfeld’s involvement. Whether or not Avengers: Doomsday has a place for her, Steinfeld’s Marvel footprint is already hard to overlook.

Her Marvel journey has included everything from cameos and official cast roles to voice work, giving Steinfeld a sizeable connection to the franchise. 

Hailee Steinfeld’s first big-screen MCU appearance came in the post-credits scene of the 2023 film, The Marvels. In the brief scene, Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, sneaks into Kate Bishop’s apartment with a plan to recruit her for a new team. She had previously co-led the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye alongside Jeremy Renner. The series formally introduced her character, Kate Bishop, as Clint Barton’s young archery protégé and eventual successor.

Beyond playing Kate Bishop in live action, Steinfeld has voiced Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, in both Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. She has also voiced alternate versions of Kate Bishop in Disney+’s What If...? and Marvel Zombies. Given that history, even if Steinfeld does not trade blows with Doctor Doom in Doomsday's central battle, she could still feature in a massive ensemble subplot.
