Idris Elba who is currently being considered for James Bond, revealed the challenge of being a Britisher who does American accents

Six-Time Golden Globe Nominee Idris Elba Reveals the “controversial” Opinion He Has About Present-Day English Actors

Idris Elba knows how to be humble despite bagging six Golden Globe nominations.
The actor has been a pool of talent, who uprooted his life in England and
quickly settled in the American entertainment industry. All while still holding
control over fans back in his home country, and being the top contender for the
next James Bond. Recently, his freshly brewed series Hijack dropped on Apple+,
making him the most trending person to speak to.

The actor was born in the London Borough of Hackney before finding his passion
for acting. In Britain, one of his first notable works was in the TV series The
Wire, but for many Americans, he is DCI John Luther from Luther. But Elba
recently made some interesting comments about an English person doing an
American accent.

IDRIS ELBA EXPLAINS THE PROBLEM WITH ENGLISH ACTORS DOING AN AMERICAN ACCENT

It takes absolute talent to be from one country and play a character from
another. British actors like Millie Bobby Brown
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/millie-bobby-brown/], Henry Cavill
[http://netflixjunkie.com/tag/henry-cavill], and Idris Elba have aced at the
skills, but the last one still has his doubts. When asked about the accent, he
revealed to the hosts of Smartless, “I’m gonna say this is a bit of
controversial.” The entertainer feels that British American actors try to do
southern accents to sound more American, due to its similarity with his own
accent.

The actor was left astonished when he heard his own work and wondered how he got
away with such a fake accent. Apparently, one can hear the British accent of
those actors seep thru if one listens closely. But even getting to the point of
imitation took years and a lot of research into the local culture.

Having made his way into the industry through hard work and skills, the actor’s
passion for the work shines through his infamous opinions.

THE ACTOR EVEN WANTED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR JAMES BOND, BASED ONLY ON HIS ACTING
SKILLS

Elba recently spoke up about the topic of him being considered the next James
Bond. His views matched neither with the nay-sayers nor the team of the
franchise. The 50-year-old lashed out about losing interest in the movie

when people began discussing his race. On the other hand, he did want to be a
part of it just to fill the inclusivity tick mark.

Today he has settled well in Hollywood, doing well while sticking to his British
roots. One can catch him on his latest British English series Hijack for now.
