"I think that the thing that I was struck by was how inarguable it seemed to me that people were lying. There was this absolute peaceful truth pouring out of them. They know what they saw. During a recent appearance on Hot Ones, Emily Blunt revealed that she deliberately avoided using artificial intelligence for a pivotal moment in Disclosure Day. The sequence involves her character undergoing a disturbing transformation while delivering a weather broadcast, producing unsettling sounds that signal something is terribly wrong. Rather than relying on AI-generated effects, Blunt wanted to create the performance herself. 

“It’s a four-minute oner that we shot that leads up to that moment where she’s gradually sort of disintegrating,” Blunt said about the scene in the episode of Hot Ones, “There’s various ways you could do it. You could go the AI route, which I’m a bit terrified of. I thought I could make some real, really strange sounds.”

The actress revealed she ultimately recorded a range of unusual vocalizations, including clicks, hums, breathing patterns, and distorted consonant sounds. Using microphones positioned near her mouth and throat, the production team captured the performance in detail before the film’s sound designers enhanced it further. The result was a uniquely unsettling sequence that blended practical performance with sound design rather than relying on artificial intelligence to generate the effect from scratch.
