Sydney Sweeney received backlash for speaking about actors' conditions, but the SAG-AFTRA strike has fans supporting her views now

“They don’t pay actors…”- 1 Year After Sydney Sweeney’s Comments on Her Finances, Fans Finally See the Truth Amidst SAG-AFTRA Strike

Was Sydney Sweeney [https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/sydney-sweeney/] right
about the condition of actors all along? The actress has been one of the actors
who has been outspoken about the struggles of working in the entertainment
industry. She may have purchased her dream home and landed on luxury magazines,
but movie and show roles were not the primary contributors, and she explained
the reasons behind them. Perhaps it was multiple voices like this that are now
supporting the SAG-AFTRA strike, preparing to pause Hollywood.

On Friday, the official strike began as actors marched on the streets with
placards to protest against big giants. As the cause forms a wave, an old
interview of the Euphoria actress emerged. The glamorous interview given to
TheHollywoodReporter
[https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/sydney-sweeney-fame-emmys-euphoria-the-white-lotus-1235186681/]
unmasked the problems within the industry. As per her, “They don’t pay actors
like they used to“. While being thankful for opportunities, she pointed out how
streaming platforms do not pay residuals.

There was a time when the industry was smaller, and actors got paid higher. It
still exists, but only for the top 2%. Other artists like Sweeney would struggle
to make ends meet after paying the publisher, rent, and lifestyle expenses.

FANS ARE EXTENDING SUPPORT TO SYDNEY SWEENEY AFTER THE SAG-AFTRA STRIKE BEGAN

The statements by The Handmaid’s Tale actress show how the actors’ strike was
not sudden, but a slow process that had been brewing for a long. Loyal fans are
now defending her for bravely speaking up on it despite being a new actress.

One feels that her critics should apologize for targeting her instead of
applauding her. Her views resonated with what artists wanted out of the strike.
They are demanding livable wages and fair working conditions for all, bringing
things to a standstill until then.

The current situation occurred after production companies failed to meet the
demand of the actors’ committee, but the 25-year-old spoke up before anyone else
could.

when they work. No work means no income, and yet the pressure of maintaining a
lifestyle.

She is still a new star, but her plight resembles those who have been in the
industry for a long time. The actors and writers both want fair pay, along with
regulations on the usage of AI. We can expect movies and shows to be halted for
an unlimited period as everyone involved struggles with the strike.
