Adria Arjona just revealed that a bomb threat nearly turned one of her biggest career opportunities into a nightmare. Before Andor, Morbius, Hit Man, and The Last of Us made her a recognizable Hollywood name, Arjona was still fighting for every meaningful opportunity. One of those chances came with True Detective Season 2
Getting the part required Arjona to take a financial gamble, move from New York to Los Angeles, and even misrepresent her hiring status.
Then the cheapest hotel she could find became the scene of an alarming incident that she never expected.

Adria Arjona’s True Detective gamble nearly began with a bomb scare
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz, Adria Arjona recounted the precarious circumstances surrounding her audition and booking for True Detective.
“I got this the cheapest hotel in downtown which ended up crazily having a b*** threat when I was there,” she told Horowitz, describing the low-budget lodging she secured to be present for the production.

Arjona also admitted to bending the truth to secure the role, telling the podcast she misrepresented her status to production.
“I also lied and said I was a local hire which I wasn't because I lived in New York and they shot in LA,” she confessed on Happy Sad Confused. Her mother initially resisted the idea of her relocating, insisting she stay put.
“Now I have to move to LA and my mom's like no you don't. We just have to book yourself of you know a hotel,” Arjona recalled, highlighting the financial and emotional pressure she faced. Despite the turbulence, Arjona’s performance resonated, landing her a SAG Award nomination and opening doors to major franchises.
That chaotic beginning makes her latest DCU chapter feel even more remarkable, especially because her next major role is being kept unusually secret.
Is Adria Arjona playing Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow?
Adria Arjona is officially part of James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, although her character remains undisclosed. She has intensified speculation through an aggressive training routine involving cardio, weightlifting, and boxing, while repeatedly refusing to identify the character. Entertainment Weekly reported that she jokingly walked away when asked about the Wonder Woman rumors before returning to praise Gunn.

The speculation has grown because Gunn previously gave Arjona an early opportunity in The Belko Experiment, and the actress has spoken warmly about their professional relationship. Reports have linked her to Maxima, while fan theories continue to point toward Wonder Woman. Neither role has been officially confirmed by DC Studios.
For now, Arjona is preparing for a mystery character in a major DCU movie while Lanterns expands the universe on television. Her journey from a dangerous hotel stay to one of Gunn’s most closely guarded casting mysteries is quite a Hollywood story.
