Even at the age of 39, Novak Djokovic shows no signs of slowing down. The Serbian athlete entered professional tennis at a young age and quickly made a name for himself among the sport’s elite. The athlete continues to show immense greatness and grace across his sport. 

He holds a record 40 Masters 1000 titles and seven year-end championships, along with an Olympic gold medal. Unsurprisingly, several such historic moments of Djokovic’s career have already been documented. And following the 2022 documentary Novak Djokovic: Refuse to Lose, another documentary focusing on the tennis star, The Wolf in Winter, is set to arrive this Summer. 

With the director of The Last Dance, Jason Hehir at the helm, here is everything to know about the documentary.

Novak Djokovic’s achievements and historic moments are well known. But there is more to the athlete who battled against all odds to reach where he is today. He is a legendary tennis player and also a devoted husband and father who balances both sides of his life. That is what will be explored in The Wolf in Winter.

 The documentary will take a closer look at his life, his struggles, his journey to becoming one of the greatest in the tennis world, and his career.

“Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter examines what makes this singular competitor tick—peeling back the layers of a man forged in extraordinary circumstances,” a press release for the documentary read.

Apart from Djokovic, several important members of his life will  also make an appearance in the documentary.

The Wolf in Winter will offer a closer look at the athlete’s personal and professional life, featuring people from both sides of his world. Andre Agassi, who is part of the multi-part Apple TV documentary series directed by Chris Smith, will appear in the series. Rafael Nadal, who was recently the focus of Netflix’s Rafa documentary series, is also expected to be featured in the new documentary. 

Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, and Jim Courier will also be part of the documentary. Since the project will shed more light on Djokovic’s training regimen and life on the tournament circuit, more members of his team, close friends, and family members are expected to feature in the series.

Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter is set to premiere on August 20, 2026, on Prime Video. The documentary is directed by Jason Hehir, the same filmmaker who was behind the hit docuseries The Last Dance. He also won an Emmy for the series. It remains to be seen if Hehir could bring the same approach to the upcoming documentary.
