The White House social media team appears to have mistaken its communications calendar for Comic-Con's guest list. From video-game references to anime imagery, official accounts have repeatedly borrowed pop culture's loudest toys for political messaging.
Pokémon, Naruto, and even Mario have entered the digital conversation, leaving fans wondering which franchise will receive the next surprise government cameo.
Now, Eiichiro Oda's pirate universe has apparently sailed into Washington.

The White House gives One Piece a presidential pirate twist
In a post shared on its official X account on November 3, the White House embraced One Piece imagery with President Trump cast in the captain's role. The crossover marries presidential branding with pirate-anime iconography. Luffy dreams of finding legendary treasure and becoming King of the Pirates. Presidential paperwork rarely makes that checklist.

The joke practically writes itself. One Piece captains traditionally worry about rival crews, impossible seas, and ships that need constant repairs. Washington has its own challenges, although none currently require a talking reindeer doctor or a swordsman who keeps getting lost.
Oda's creation centers on freedom, friendship, and pirates resisting powerful institutions. That gives this particular post a delicious layer of irony. In Oda's fictional world, the World Government regularly clashes with pirates chasing their own freedom.

Iñaki Godoy returns as stretchy captain Monkey D. Luffy, joined by Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Charithra Chandran plays Princess Vivi, whose desert homeland is approaching civil war. Behind the chaos lurks Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, and his criminal organization Baroque Works.
Apparently, the villain's business model involves territorial conquest with absolutely dreadful customer service. Mikaela Hoover returns as Chopper, Lera Abova plays Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy portrays King Cobra. New arrivals include Xolo Maridueña as Ace and Cole Escola as Bon Clay, with Emilio Sakraya joining as Koza.
