In the name of neutrality, most Jewish visa applications were left untouched, a quiet attempt to keep the country out of the war. But that fragile calm was about to crack.

The tables, however, turned with the arrival of Rut Vogel. Every rule, every procedure is about to be questioned. The corridors of power, once orderly, are going to become a battlefield, where every decision could mean life or death. Along the shadowed corridors of the ministry, several unsung heroes quietly shaped events we barely know. And bringing these to life is the impeccable cast of the docudrama.

Directed and written by Thérèse Ahlbeck and Marcus Olsson, The Swedish Connection will be led by Henrik Dorsin as Gösta Engzell, head of the legal department, responsible for making life-changing decisions that save thousands of lives. Opposite him is Per Gavatin as Raoul Wallenberg, whose bold actions is about to place him at the heart of Sweden’s quiet resistance.
Sissela Benn is Rut Vogel, the new staff member who is going to shake up the ministry and challenge every rule. Johan Glans as Göran von Otter, quietly confronting N--- policies, while Jonas Karlsson as Staffan Söderström and Marianne Mörck as Stina Johansson add depth to this gripping historical drama.

After a limited theatrical run across Nordic countries and a premiere at the Göteborg Film Festival, The Swedish Connection will have its global streaming launch on February 19, 2026, on Netflix. The 100-minute (1 hour and 40 minutes) historical drama will stream in Swedish and German, with English subtitles and dubbed options available worldwide.
