Two women once got stuck on a 2,000-foot tower with no way down and no cell signal. Nobody saw the twist coming, and it's the reason this movie became impossible to watch just once. What started as an under-the-radar theatrical release turned into a streaming phenomenon almost by accident. Someone else has to make that climb now. The drop waiting for them is worse.

The sequel does not just raise the stakes. It rewrites the whole climb.

Fall 2: Deadpoint, the follow-up to 2022's surprise Netflix hit Fall, follows Shiloh's sister, Jax, and a friend as they attempt a tribute climb: a plank walk around a mountain in Thailand. A rockslide traps them 3,000 feet up, a full thousand feet higher than the tower that nearly killed Shiloh and Becky in the original. Their guide is with them, but that's cold comfort once the rock gives way.

Producer James Harris hasn't confirmed the timeline, but he is clear on one thing.

"We don't want to make something that feels like a copycat or less than the first one," he told Deadline.

The franchise runs on one premise: trap people somewhere high with no way down. A mountain plank walk isn't a broadcast tower, though. The physics of the trap changed, and that alone signals the team wanted more than a rerun. Fall 2: Deadpoint also carries a PG-13 rating this time, a detail that matters given how the original earned its own the hard way.

Nobody's stuck the landing yet, but the franchise clearly is not done climbing.

A third Fall movie already has the green light. It's confirmed that characters from the first two films will be brought back alongside new additions, so Jax and her friend likely aren't the last climbers this franchise puts in danger.

None of this happens without the original's streaming numbers. Fall made just $3 million to shoot and pulled in $21.8 million at the box office, then found a second life once it landed on Netflix and climbed the charts. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 79% score from critics and audiences alike. A surprise Jeffrey Dean Morgan cameo caught plenty of casual viewers off guard, too. Suspense thrillers on Netflix rarely pull off that kind of crossover appeal. Word of mouth usually decides what sticks.  

Fall cost just $3 million to make. It pulled in seven times at the box office. A single terrifying location did all the work. Fall 2: Deadpoint is betting that formula scales, trading a tower for a mountain and raising the drop by a thousand feet. With a third film already locked in, this franchise isn't slowing down anytime soon.
