The Super Mario Bros. game is about to celebrate its 40th anniversary, and what better way to commemorate the occasion than to confirm the cast of the sequel to Universal’s record-breaking Super Mario film? Officially titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, as confirmed by Nintendo, the film has just welcomed its main cast, reuniting the original stars Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jack Black. Offering their unique voices to the upcoming movie, the stellar cast holds the sequel down with sonic familiarity that fans of the game and the movie are already fond of.

Pratt returns as the voice of Mario, and so does Anya Taylor-Joy for Princess Peach, Charlie Day for Luigi, and Jack Black as the voice of Bowser, the King of the Koopas. In addition, the film also brings back Keegan-Michael Key as Mushroom Kingdom's resident, Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Their return guarantees that a lot of the emotional foundation and comedy of the original film will transfer over to the highly anticipated second chapter.

As 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie has defied all expectations, earning $1.36 billion, anticipation for its sequel is at an all-time high, as the venerable Mushroom Kingdom waits with baited breath for its voice performance ensemble of merit to reignite the video game's magic on the silver screen.  

The Nintendo Direct offered a teaser for the sequel featuring Mario asleep under a tree near Princess Peach’s castle, with glimpses of a Monty Mole, Cheep Cheeps in a stream, and Toads around the castle. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to arrive in the United States on April 3, 2026, and in Japan on April 24, 2026. Although details of the plot are kept secret, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is sure to propel Mario and his friends out of their Mushroom Kingdom into yet another exciting adventure, as hinted by its title, Nintendo’s hit video game, Super Mario Galaxy, which arrived in 2007 on the Wii. 

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic with a screenplay from Matthew Fogel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also brings back Brian Taylor to compose the celestial score of the movie, where Mario perhaps travels through galaxies. While the main all-star voice cast, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more, has been confirmed, castings for characters like Rosalina or a star‐creature Luma are yet to be revealed.
