The man behind Tony Soprano's good friend, Vincent Pastore, has passed away as of August 1, 2026, at 80. Pastore had made betrayal feel almost forgivable through Big P****. He turned a mobster's slow FBI cooperation into one of the most talked-about turns in The Sopranos' early run.

Stephen Villano, a longtime friend of the actor, found him at his Bronx home on Saturday, August 1, days after anyone had last been in contact with him. The official cause of death remains unconfirmed. TMZ reported that sources pointed to natural causes, but Pastore's family has not confirmed this account.

Renee, his daughter, remains among those left to carry his memory forward.

Bonpensiero spent the first two seasons of The Sopranos as part of Tony Soprano's inner circle, right up until he started wearing a wire for the FBI. That betrayal caught up with him in the Season 2 finale, when Tony, Silvio, and Paulie made the call to take him out on a boat.
