Matthew McConaughey revealed that his son was scared of Hans Zimmer's musical score. Interstellar remains one of the most memorable films of its time. Apart from its sci-fi elements, the emotional story of a father and daughter touched hearts around the world. If anything, Zimmer’s musical score seemed to reflect the father-daughter duo's pain, longing, and deeply human struggle.

The film was an emotionally resonant masterpiece that has stayed with audiences long after its release. And McConaughey was reminded of just how deeply the film, and most importantly the musical score, had connected with people when he watched his son’s reaction to it.

Matthew McConaughey recently joined Woody Harrelson for a special edition of Glass Half Full. When asked whether their children watch their shows and movies, McConaughey recalled recently rewatching Interstellar with his son, Levi. He shared that his son had the same reaction to Hans Zimmer’s musical score that he had when he first heard it years ago. 

"He loved it. The score scared him as a kid. The Hans Zimmer score," he said that the music score scared Levi. 

The actor perhaps hinted at the Interstellar main theme. He recalled that this was a scary moment when Coop leaves. During the special edition of Glass Half Full, McConaughey shared that this music scared his son even after all these years. 

"So he's a very musical kid, and he, and so when the score came out, I even saw him at 18 years old being shook because it called back to that moment where he heard that score in the background,” he added. 

The sentiment is no different for fans who get chills from the film’s haunting musical score. As for McConaughey’s other two kids, Vida Alves McConaughey and Livingston Alves McConaughey, he laughed while admitting that they have only watched a few of his films. However, his eldest son seems to have begun taking an interest in the actor’s movies.

After all, McConaughey’s eldest son is also now following in his father’s footsteps.

During his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Matthew McConaughey revealed that his son, Levi McConaughey, was interested in auditioning for The Lost Bus. He further added that his son went all in, ensuring that if he landed the role, it was on his own merit. So, Levi McConaughey even removed his last name when submitting his audition video to director Paul Greengrass.

It seems the acting gene may have been passed down from McConaughey to his son. Greengrass approved Levi’s audition right away and was even more satisfied when he discovered that he was McConaughey’s son. For McConaughey, watching his son earn an acting role on his own terms must have been a proud moment, while seeing Levi connect with Interstellar may have also made it a full-circle moment.
