The Russo Brothers have recently shared new details on how they are handling the huge ensemble cast of Avengers: Doomsday, explaining the film is built from the perspective of each individual character. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after helming plenty of MCU movies. Avengers: Doomsday is one of Marvel Studios' most ambitious crossover films, and brings together heroes from across the MCU, the X-Men universe, and the Fantastic Four.

Recently, the Russo Brothers talked to SoundSphere about their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers: Doomsday. The conversation offered insights from Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed the film’s huge ensemble cast. They then discussed the creative process of balancing so many iconic Marvel characters. 

“We do have a creative process where we really envision the movie and the narrative from each individual character’s point of view and paint the movie from that character’s point of view,” the elder Russo brother said, admitting that the film follows an overarching character arc that anchors its traditional three-act narrative.

He further explained during the interview that Avengers: Doomsday follows a traditional two-and-a-half-hour, three-act structure with an overarching character arc. He admitted that even characters with limited screen time offer meaningful viewpoints. He said that this approach adds creative depth to the narrative while ensuring every character contributes to the overall story. 

Joe Russo added that the filmmakers balance structure with flexibility to ensure every actor has an opportunity to shine despite the film's enormous ensemble. He noted that every Marvel hero is someone's favorite, making it essential to give each character meaningful moments. According to him, this approach helps every character leave a lasting impact on the audience.
