Marvel is desperately hoping for a home run with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday coming at the end of the year, and for that, they have all the ammunition they need. The most ballistic of them is the Avengers: Endgame Encore, which is marketed as a segue to Avengers: Doomsday, with the new version having four minutes of fresh footage tying into the Doomsday storyline. However, Marvel’s perfect strategy to lead the audience to the new Avengers sequel has just encountered a minor hiccup, at least for a specific part of the world.

Recent reports suggest that Kuwait’s Censor has banned Avengers: Endgame Encore’s release in the country.

It might come as a shock, but Avengers: Endgame has been banned in Kuwait for the second time, as reported by a local news portal by the name 2:48AM. At the time of its release for the first time in 2019, Kuwait banned the movie over some objectionable scenes. But it was later released in the region with some cuts. However, no one expected it to be banned again.

Although the new release has some new footage of about four minutes added to the original material, hence the new title Avengers: Endgame Encore, it is beyond anyone’s comprehension how those four minutes can contribute to a ban on the movie. Furthermore, the local authorities and censors have not provided a specific official rationale for the sudden ban of this re-release.    

The cancelation and removal of showtimes were confirmed by major regional operators, such as VOX Cinemas and Cinescape. They further had to apologize to their customers who had already bought tickets for the movie, pulling their bookings and issuing an automatic refund for the same, per 2:48AM.

The curiosity now shifts to the new four minutes added to the Encore version of the original film.

The cinematic re-release of Avengers: Endgame, known as Avengers: Endgame Encore, serves as a refresher for viewers before Avengers: Doomsday is released in December. A new post-credits scene, four minutes of added footage, and an exclusive preview of Doomsday are all included. The re-release has a confirmed runtime of 185 minutes and is color-graded as well. However, no one knows exactly what those additional minutes contain or how they will set up the Doomsday storyline.

Though there are several leaks and rumors about what and how the new material will bridge the gap between the two Avengers movies, nothing is official yet. It seems that things will only become clearer when the film lands in theaters. The movie comes out on September 25, along with Taylor Swift’s new extended version of her 2025 ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ album.
