Tracy Ifeachor’s character, Dr. Heather Collins, will not be part of season 2 of The Pitt, starring Noah Wyle. While there were several rumors surrounding her exit, it was ultimately confirmed to be a creative decision. In the show, Dr. Collins is a fourth-year resident, and residents typically do not remain at the same hospital after completing their training.

Executive producer John Wells explained the same to The Hollywood Reporter as the reason for the character’s departure.

"Not to scare any of the other cast members, but people don't stay at these hospitals forever. They're going to roll out, and that will be part of the evolution of the show," he said.

Other medical dramas, such as Grey’s Anatomy, have shown residents graduating and continuing at the same hospital. However, The Pitt, which gained popularity for its realistic portrayal of the healthcare system, appears to be opting for a more realistic future for Dr. Collins. If this approach continues, senior residents like Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) and Dennis Whitaker could also exit the series in potential season 3 or 4.
