The Pitt's emergency ward has always thrived on chaos, but Season 2's Episode 14 simmers the chaos down just enough to let something far more unsettling be exposed. The show has developed a hidden tension that brews throughout the entire season. Glances linger a while too long, while puses feel heavier than the deepest of breaths. The unsaid gaps of the individual storylines reach their peak weight at the end when they bring forth an unexpected truth.

Dr. Al-Hashimi drops the revelation no one could have seen coming.

Not a single character in The Pitt has perfect mental health. Episode 2 made it amply clear as it finally disclosed why Dr. Al-Hashimi had been choking during medical procedures. She revealed that she suffers from a seizure disorder herself and had two "absence seizures" in the ongoing 15-hour shift. Towards the end, Dr. Al-Hashimi had Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) review a patient case with a long history of seizures ever since she was 5 years old. However, it turns out to be her own medical history.

The file revealed Al-Hashimi's prolonged battle with viral meningitis, and mental health issues. The show creates a new narrative direction through this major discovery. Viewers can now connect the dots with the scenes where Al-Hashimi showed signs of being distracted together with her frequent episodes of complete immobility. These symptoms show that she has had an unknown condition which have not yet been explored at length.

With the new revelation of Al-Hashimi’s condition, her call to a neurologist from the bathroom earlier in season 2 makes more sense. Her seizure symptoms could have prompted her to seek her doctor’s advice for new medication or an evaluation. Besides seeking Robby’s opinion, her efforts to combat her illness highlight her genuine concern about treating patients and herself.

The episode ends with quite a cliffhanger, creating pressing issues that must be resolved through upcoming events. The question of Al-Hashimi's ability to work needs to be evaluated. However, only upcoming episodes and perhaps Robby can make the decision.

What to expect from The Pitt Season 2 finale?

So far, The Pitt Season 2 has established that Dr. Robby is suicidal, and Dr. Al-Hashimi has absence seizures, setting up a shocking turn of events and denouement in the finale. Robby had been constantly on the lookout to deem her unfit for the ER. The private and transparent yet emotional conversation between the two might enforce trust and a bond of compassion between Robby and Al-Hashimi.
