The Pitt Season 2 shooting locations: Where was the Emmy-winning drama filmed?
For a show that felt so real and deeply moving to fans, The Pitt Season 2 is expected to maintain the same level of authenticity. For that end, the show’s creator, R. Scott Gemmill, has once again made an effort to keep the series as realistic as possible. The series is primarily filmed on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, while exterior scenes are shot on location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including a three-day schedule at Allegheny General Hospital. The filming began in Los Angeles on June 16, 2025.
But apart from the location, there will be several more changes, such as time. With most of the original cast returning to reprise their roles, Season 2 also features a time jump to the Fourth of July. But it is not only familiar faces making a return in The Pitt Season 2, but also the locations that helped define Season 1 as well.
Is The Pitt Season 2 filmed in the same places as Season 1?
The Emmy Award–winning drama series quickly became a fan favorite on the streamer. Season 1 of the medical drama, The Pitt, which ran for 15 episodes, was released in January 2025 and filmed across several locations.
Most scenes were shot on a Warner Bros. soundstage in Los Angeles, while the remaining portions were also filmed in Pittsburgh. The cast also filmed at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for nearly three days and later returned to the same hospital to shoot additional scenes.
When it came to building the world of The Pitt, creator R. Scott Gemmill and executive producer John Wells wanted the hospital to feel as real and alive as the characters working inside it. To achieve this, John Wells brought in production designer Nina Ruscio, who played a key role in shaping the show’s authentic setting.
While we know the cast and crew of The Pitt returned to the same locations for filming, the question is whether they are still filming?

To film The Pitt Season 2, the cast traveled to both Pittsburgh and Los Angeles for shooting. Production has now wrapped, so filming is no longer taking place in Pittsburgh at this time. However, the show will soon return to screens, with the upcoming season set to premiere on January 8, 2026, on HBO Max.
For The Pitt, location played a crucial role in making the story feel authentic. The use of Pittsburgh for exterior shots, along with local and cultural elements, contributed to its success. Fans can expect the same immersive approach in the new season as well.
