Ever since Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey stormed into theaters, audiences who missed its massive-screen spectacle have been waiting for the day they could finally bring the epic home. For 120 days, the film has remained a theatrical beast, dominating conversations, breaking records, and turning Homer’s ancient myth into one of 2026’s biggest cinematic events. Now, the wait is finally nearing its end, and Nolan’s sprawling voyage is preparing to leave the big screen behind.
After months of conquering theaters, The Odyssey is finally preparing to make its streaming debut.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sets its streaming date
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey will officially arrive on VOD on November 17, 2026, exactly 120 days after its theatrical release. The epic, which opened in cinemas on July 17, has spent its theatrical run becoming a major global phenomenon, giving audiences a larger-than-life adaptation of Homer’s legendary Greek poem before making the jump to home viewing. For fans who have been waiting to experience Nolan’s version outside theaters, the journey is finally reaching a new shore.

The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Zendaya as Athena, with Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal also taking major roles. Travis Scott even appears as an Ithaca poet bard in the film’s opening, adding another unexpected name to Nolan’s enormous ensemble.
But before this mythic voyage washes ashore on streaming, its theatrical journey has already rewritten several chapters of Nolan’s career.
The Odyssey turns its theatrical run into box office history
The Odyssey has reportedly grossed $1.368 billion worldwide, making it Nolan’s highest-grossing movie ever and pushing it beyond The Dark Knight Rises. The film also overtook Deadpool & Wolverine to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie in cinematic history, while reaching the $700 million mark in just 12 days. With a reported $250 million budget, the epic has transformed into a colossal commercial victory.

Its technical ambition has been just as enormous. The Odyssey became the first Hollywood feature to be shot entirely using IMAX 70mm film cameras, giving Nolan the kind of giant-format canvas he has long championed for theatrical filmmaking. The movie itself follows Odysseus’ brutal journey home after the Trojan War, taking him across a mythic Mediterranean filled with gods, monsters, and deadly obstacles while Penelope and Telemachus struggle to survive in Ithaca without him.
After ruling the box office for months, Christopher Nolan’s epic is finally ready to begin its next journey, this time from the theater screen to the living room.
