Jumanji: Open World was originally meant to be released much earlier, with early development on the film starting way back in 2020. However, the road to the next chapter has proven to be an unpredictable journey, slowed by pandemic-era delays and complicated by sudden behind-the-scenes shake-ups - including director Jake Kasdan stepping aside as producer Hiram Garcia announced that Eric Brevig would take the reins to reforge the project as a modern reimagining of the original classic.
