One of the biggest pop culture spectacles has graced the theaters, bringing with it a strong breeze of nostalgia. The Streep-Hathaway-Tucci-Blunt four-way, which had the entire 2006 and the years following that into a chokehold, has returned with The Devil Wears Prada 2 to once again redefine the connotation of fashion and break stigmatizing stereotypes. The movie has already surpassed expectations in the preview shows and is on its way to a whirlwind theatrical run. However, a part of the credit for its overwhelming response should go to the cameo of the year.

Surprisingly, Lady Gaga adorned the film with a brief appearance, and the internet is going crazy behind the force that made this happen.

Lady Gaga makes a two-scene-long cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2. However, rumors of her cameo had been circulating for some time after the singer was observed in Milan during her world tour, which led to the initial reporting of this news in late 2025. It turns out that Meryl Streep, who plays the iconic Miranda Priestly in the movie, was responsible for that.

“I thought, I might as well try her. I just said, ‘Would you do this? Because it’s going to be really good.’ And she said, ‘Yeah!’ Just like that. She’s on her world tour, which lasted a year, playing to 75,000 people in a stadium, and just flew off and did us,” Streep said during an appearance on Heart Breakfast.

According to Variety, Streep met Lady Gaga at the SNL 50 gala in 2025. They hit it off there, and the two talked about a possible collaboration in the future. Director David Frankel nudged Streep to get in touch with her new pal a few months later. According to Frankel, the studio first stated that a big pop celebrity appearance was not necessary for the movie. But he was adamant on roping in a big pop star for the role.

The decision worked out greatly in favor of the movie, as the cameo is loved as much as the film itself. Gaga wrote three original songs for The Devil Wears Prada 2, including 'Runway,' the duet with Doechii, 'Shape of a Woman,' and 'Glamorous Life.' However, the makers initially wanted her to create and perform just one song for the film.

What did Lady Gaga play in The Devil Wears Prada 2?

A feud between Miranda Priestly and Lady Gaga is depicted in the sequel. As traditional periodicals become less popular in the digital age, Miranda is finding out what she wants to do with her life. Under new management, Runway's Milan fashion show will see financial cuts. Nigel requests that Miranda call her "friend," which is Gaga, obviously, to assist them in this circumstance.
